The Weetabix Northamptonshire Food & Drink Awards 2025/26 returned for its 17th year yesterday evening, once again shining a spotlight on the county’s outstanding culinary talent. The event celebrated local excellence across 19 categories, honouring the brilliant people, places, and producers that make Northamptonshire’s food scene so special.
The results were revealed at the Royal & Derngate on Thursday, October 16, where finalists were awarded gold, silver, or bronze. The evening was filled with joy as members of the county’s food and drink community came together to celebrate one another. According to awards director Rachel Mallows, winning continues to have a remarkable impact on businesses, with many finalists reporting up to 25% growth in trade following their success.
This year’s ceremony carried a theme marking the 350-year anniversary of The Great Fire of Northampton, symbolising resilience and the power of community — values shared by all who make Northamptonshire’s hospitality scene thrive.
Among this year’s gold winners was none other than Mooche Wala, proudly named ‘World Cuisine Restaurant of the Year’.
We are thrilled to share this incredible achievement, which means the world to us – and it’s all thanks to our amazing customers who have supported us since day one.
Located on Main Street, Denton, Mooche Wala is a unique Bangladeshi and Indian grill that blends the warmth of traditional hospitality with a relaxed, modern atmosphere. Whether you’re joining us for a sit-down meal, enjoying a drink in our bar, or picking up a takeaway, our goal has always been to create a place where everyone feels welcome.
Founded by brothers Bilal and Muhammad Hussain, Mooche Wala was born from decades of family experience in the restaurant trade. From the initial refurbishment in late 2023 to our opening in February 2024, every detail has been shaped by passion, hard work, and a love for great food and genuine service.
Muhammad Hussain said:
“It feels good. We’ve been open for about 18 months now and a lot of hard work’s gone into the business.”
Over the past 18 months, our little village restaurant has grown beyond expectations – from introducing tapas plates and takeaway options to launching premium cigars that pairs fine cigars with quality beverages. The recognition we’ve received is a testament to the dedication of our entire team and the loyalty of our wonderful guests who have spread the word far and wide.
Muhammad Hussain also added:
“We’ve been focusing hard on all areas – not just the food, but the hospitality and keeping everyone happy. It’s a good feeling.”
To all our customers – thank you for making Mooche Wala what it is today. Your smiles, your feedback, and your continued support inspire us every single day.
We’re already dreaming big about the future – including a second, larger venue – but no matter how far we grow, Mooche Wala will always remain your local home for world-class cuisine and heartfelt hospitality.
